Albertsons Companies Inc. is an American grocery chain based in Boise, Idaho. The supermarket chain was founded by Joe Albertson on July 21, 1939, in Boise. The first Albertson's grocery store was a huge success which resulted in new stores opening in neighboring towns. With more than 2,250 stores in 35 states and the District of Columbia, Albertsons is the second-largest supermarket chain in North America after Kroger nowadays. Albertsons currently employs around 325,000 people.
